Sir Richard Branson has officially opened his luxury resort, Mahali Mzuri Safari Camp, in Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

Mahali Mzuri, which has been operational since July 2013, is located within the Olare Motorogi Conservancy in the Maasai Mara ecosystem, some 240km from Nairobi.

The resort consists of 12 luxury tents that can accommodate a maximum of 24 guests at any one time, for as at least Sh50,000 per person per night.

The rates are inclusive of meals, drinks, daily game drives and unlimited access to the Olare Motorogi Conservancy.

Branson, a tribal Maasai elder, invited local elders to bless the safari camp.

“I’m thrilled that so many of the local community have made it here today to observe and take part in what was a beautifully traditional and fitting way of launching our new safari camp,” Branson wrote on the camp’s blog.

Mahali Mzuri has been developed in a joint partnership between Branson and and the Gehlot family who operate the Intex Group of Companies.

It is designed to offer serenity, high-end luxury holidays and unique retreats.
